September 24, 2025
On September 23, at approximately 8:20 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 4000 block of Center Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire coming from the rear of a single-story residence. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive interior attack to bring the fire under control. At the same time, firefighters conducted a primary search of the structure, which confirmed that no occupants were inside at the time of the fire. Once the fire was knocked down, crews checked for any extension to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Personnel from Stations 1, 3, and 4 responded to the incident. The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted on scene by the City of Tallahassee Utilities, Leon County Sheriff's Office and the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents.
TFD reminds all residents to have working smoke alarms on every level of their home and to regularly review and practice home fire escape plans. Early fire detection and preparation saves lives. Get tips and more fire safety information by following TFD on Facebook and visiting Talgov.com/Fire.
